The lowest step should be set in foundations of at least 20 cm (the higher the stairs, the deeper and more solid the foundations must be). For the further construction, a continuous concrete layer of approx. 10 cm on top of a blinding concrete made from compacted ballast will suffice in general.

The steps are placed in a mortar bed (or alternatively suitable frost-protected adhesive) on the concrete and aligned. The width of the steps must be aligned horizontally; to the front a gradient of 3-10 mm is to be provided.

  • The stair tread should be consistent.
  • When used as a stair string, the step is set upright and embedded into the foundations.
